For Today ~ January 5, 2010
Outside my window... it's freezing cold and snow-covered still (that's a rarity in Oklahoma!)
I am thinking... about how being happy is not a right, but the pursuit of happiness is.
I am thankful ... that it's a new year with new promises.
I am wearing... a gold long-sleeved t-shirt, jeans, black Uggs and a black and gold scarf.
I am remembering... how much fun we used to have with our friends, the Cooks, and how glad I am that Debbie got ahold of me to make a lunch date for next week.
I am creating... for the first time in several months ... nothing! Well, that's not totally true. I purged and organized the two little kids' bedrooms and playroom and am moving on to the laundry room and pantry this week. So, I guess I'm creating less clutter.
I am going... to take a big load of toys up to our school today to donate to the pre-k classrooms. It feels good to give, and to get rid of!
I am reading... Nothing. I gave up on my book I have been trying to read for a couple of months. I'm not a good reader. I like the non-commitment of magazines, so I'll just keep up with that.
I am hoping... that my whole family stays on board with our new 5 year plan to relocate to the Caribbean.
On my mind... is what I need to do to get started on my goal to work toward my teaching degree. I don't know where to start.
From the learning rooms... It's a new semester .. a new, fresh start .. which some of us needed! Dawson is going to tutoring two afternoons a week to help him stay on track with his daily work. I've created a calendar for him to come home and write down his assignments and tests so we stay on top of that. Kyndal started Driver's Ed this semester (weird!). Eli learned his full name, birthday, parents' names, telephone number and address over Christmas break so he can join his class' High Five Club. Brynne started reading over Christmas break.
Pondering these words ... "I'd like to think that I'm the kind of husband who would do anything it took to help make you happy." (paraphrased somewhat) ~ said by Rick to me this week during a discussion about our marriage.
From the kitchen... we are using some of our holiday leftovers (turkey, shrimp), and I've planned some large meals that have leftovers to use in other meals later in the week. Tonight, I'm making about 5 lbs. of meatballs to use in meatball subs, cheesy meatball skillet and spaghetti next week. My large pot of homemade spaghetti sauce next week will be used for chicken parmesan and sausage manicotti later. (Oh, and I'll be using my new crockpot this week!)
Around the house... there are no signs of Christmas .. ahhhhhhh!!!! (Thank you, honey!)
One of my favorite things... is watching talents of my kids emerge.
A few plans for the rest of the week... Rick and I are meeting with a new realtor today. He and I are going on a date Friday night to eat dinner and go see Legally Blonde, the Musical. Other than that, there is nothing on my calendar for this week! Sweet January!

ReplyDeleteI'm praying that everything works out with your plans to sell your house and relocate. I wish we had had that choice (selling first). But, despite 2 mortgages, we're solely surviving by the grace of God. Everything has is purpose even though we don't always know what it is.

Sounds like you've got your house and mind clutter free and prepared for a great 2010. I do hope the teaching degree works out for you...what a gift you have with children! I think that would be your cup of tea for certain.

ReplyDeleteThe best place to start on you degree pursuit is with a visit to a counselor at the college of your choice. It took me multiple visits to TCC and OU, scouring their websites for information, much prayer and multiple "family meetings" since it was a group decision. I'd be curious to see what kind of education/certification the Caribbean schools require. I guess returning to school is not such a crazy idea after all huh? I know you can do it. There is also so many scholarship opportunities for non-traditional women students.
