Okay, that being said ...
Yesterday, a vendor of Rick's company treated us and a few other couples to a really fun day! They drove us, by limo, from Tulsa to Stillwater to watch the Oklahoma State vs. Georgia football game.
This was a significant day in many ways for the Cowboys. First, it was their first game played in the newly renovated and expanded Boone Pickens Stadium. Wow, it was amazing!
Second, this was the first time the Cowboys have ever started the season nationally ranked, and they were ranked #8.
Third, we were playing another nationally ranked team, the Georgia Bulldogs, who were ranked #13.
The hype and excitement was contagious, even for this Missouri Tigers girl! Once we got to OSU we headed to "The Walk". The fans lined the street to cheer on Pistol Pete, the band, the cheerleaders and pom dancers, and the team and coaches. Then the fans followed them in parade-fashion the rest of the way to the stadium.
As part of our day, we had VIP tickets to view the game in a suite. Wow! Talk about pampering!
The entire suite facility is catered by several buffet lines which consisted of Mexican food, prime rib and other yummies! Then at any time you could walk up and have a pretzel, cookies, ice cream, etc. The suite was stocked with every kind of drink imaginable! We were in heaven!
We ate and then settled in for the game. Rick played football at OSU back in the late 80's/early 90's as a walk on.
So, the changes to the stadium and in fan support were so overwhelming to him at times that the nostalgia caused him to tear up.
The Cowboys beat Georgia 24-10. It was awesome!
We just had such a fun day! Thanks, Zeeco!
